Here's a bit more information...
7:30 PM: The Weeping Willards - http://www.weepingwillards.com
The trio of horn players in Alan Rose and the Restless Elements have a great band of their own. They released an ep back in June, and you can download it for free. With stylistic influences ranging from ska and New Orleans sounds to jazz and the Beatles to TV theme songs and folk songs, you never know quite what the next song is going to sound like. You just know it's going to be good.
Though he's best known as the guitarist in the funky trio Revision and as a member of Elisa Sciscioli's Solstice, Nick is branching out with a solo project that's unlike either of those bands. Stylistic nods to the Beatles, Elliott Smith, and Jon Brion are the most obvious touchstones for his carefully constructed tunes.
9:30 PM: Alan Rose and the Restless Elements - http://www.alanrosemusic.com The Main Event, part one. A mixture of songs from American Hands and other material, culminating in a set-closing finale that will test the strength of the Castaways stage. FingerLakes Recording will be shooting multi-camera video to preserve this for posterity.
10:30 PM: Fall Creek Brass Band - http://www.facebook.com/pages/Fall-Creek-Brass-Band/130920069403
A New Orleans-style brass band from Dryden, NY will keep you entertained during the set break. This up-and-coming combo tore it up during the Ithaca Festival Parade and at their own set later in the Festival. They're releasing their debut CD on July 30 at the Haunt and are playing a lot more over the course of the summer, including an opening slot for the Po' Boys Brass Band on August 14. You really don't want to miss them!
11:15 PM: Alan Rose and the Restless Elements - http://www.alanrosemusic.com
The Main Event, part two. Another mix of album and non-album songs. And if they didn't break the stage at the end of set one, they might succeed by the time they've taken their final bows. Like the first set, this one will be captured on multi-camera video by FingerLakes Recording.
12:30 AM: Blow! - http://www.blowexclamationpoint.com
Fresh from taking the grand prize in the second annual University of Rock competition presented by WVBR, this duo plays music that takes classic blues, rock, and soul sounds and adds looping to the mix. The result is danceable, catchy, and just plain good. They've already got an ep out and will be celebrating the release of their first 45 RPM single on August 20th.
Can't make it to Ithaca? We've arranged to stream most or all of the show via USTREAM. You can find the feed here:
Thanks to the folks at 14850.com, Lightlink, and Castaways and all of the bands for making the stream possible.
